Jason Xu. Ph.D.

Investment Professional

Dr. Xu has extensive business experience in semiconductor materials, cleantech & energy, medical device, and consumer products in markets such as Asia and the United States. His investment focus areas are energy, smart manufacturing, IoT (“Internet of Things”) and environmental protection technology.

Jason has been a member of the Sycamore team since 2013.  Previously, he worked for Cargill (oil, seeds and agriculture business), Mitsubishi (oil, seeds and agriculture business), and DuPont (semiconductor materials) with operational management and business development responsibilities. He had experience in building out new greenfield plant in Asia and the United States. He is also a Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur, having started innovative technology companies in material, renewable energy and consumer wearable devices. He is currently a successful angel investor in Silicon Valley, with investments in Intraminds Technology, Chestnut, Sapheon Inc. Cathera Inc., and Amber Kinetics. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota, and his BS in Energy and Power from Xian Jiaotong University. He has extensive contacts throughout China energy and environmental protection industries from his extensive personal and family connections.
